Is this event notifiable?
The WorkSafe Guidance on what is notifiable can be found here.
We need to notify WorkSafe promptly, but first we want to be given the opportunity to consider our response. You MUST call your Manager or Head of Generation before contacting WorkSafe.
The only people who can approve a notification being made to WorkSafe are:
-
Heads of Generation
-
Engineering or Technical Authorities
-
Head of Safety Leadership
-
Head of HSW Major Projects
-
Chief Officers
-
CEO
They may choose to delegate to someone else to make the notification.
The Chief Officer will make the decision as to whether a legal review of the notification will be required. They will advise the Supervisor or Contractor of this decision and next steps.

In the event of a fatality
the Contact representative must
inform WorkSafe immediately:
Restart work
If the event is notifiable, work can only be restarted once permission is given by WorkSafe. All permits should be cancelled and work reassessed for safety from the system and general safety by Nominated Competent Person/Nominated Supervisor (NCP/NS). Confirm all people involved feel fit and able to restart work.
